City Turned Farm Girl

Guess whose back, back, back…back again!

Looking back at my last post I have realized how long its been..a lot has been happening.  And now it’s time to finally sit down and BLOG about it!  Ill do several posts over the next chunk of time of all the different projects.  But first, we bought a farmhouse!!!

Reid and I have been casually looking for land for a few years now, not making any rush decisions unless we found the right place.  We decided to come look at this house just for kicks and giggles.  To be honest, they did not make it look super great online.  We pulled up expecting to rule out another property and instead, fell in love.  Not only did they fail to mention that there was a freaking WATER VIEW, but also that there were an abundance of fruit trees and totally flat usable acreage.  The house itself, needed some serious TLC but overall we loved the feeling of it and more importantly, what we could make it.  I have been wanting a “ranch style” home for a while now.  I felt like I spent my life cleaning our previous 3 level home and simply wanted to spend more time outside and with the boys.  For this reason, we downsized our house, and upsized our land.  So far, I am loving every second of it.  Sure, it’s a ton of work to keep up several acres, but we’ve pretty much just had to pick and choose our battles.  I’m slightly OCD and I have just had to accept that not everything is going to be in perfect shape or how I want it right away, but thats the beauty of this property.  We get to make it exactly what we want over time…hopefully forever!

Ill do some posts on all of the projects we have done thus far, but we essentially ripped everything out from floor to ceiling.  The house was built in 90s, so not old, just extremely dated.  There was wall to wall carpet (and linoleum), and if you know me you know I hate carpet.  Especially with kids and dogs!  From the second we walked in I was able to envision exactly what I wanted and how we could make it amazing and I think thats the reason why we both fell in love.  It wasn’t perfect but we knew we could make it perfect for family.

This post I just wanted to focus on what it was before, and then I can get to the project details throughout the next few weeks.  We have poured a lot of time and money into this house, and still have A LOT to do, but its been so fun seeing it transform.  Reid could not be more of a trooper, he always sees my vision and runs with it!

For all my followers, thanks for being patient with me.  The past 4-5 months really have been spent in a renovation hole and I am slowly trying to dig my way back out to share everything with you!  If there’s anything specific you want to see or me to write about please send over your suggestions!

Xoxo

Sincerely,

The Smith’s
